2. Application
- Complete online application questions
- 2 letters of reference emailed to Aimee.Oke@Colostate.edu (faculty should email the letters directly to Ms. Oke)
o One reference should provide a letter attesting to your motivation, independence, reliability and other character attributes
o The second reference should be provided by the CSU faculty mentor who has agreed to support your summer research program. This letter should contain a) a short description of the research you will undertake as part of the summer program and willingness to provide mentorship; and b) assurance that the mentor has the laboratory and financial resources to support your research

3. Eligibility
Interested 1st-2nd year veterinary students from any accredited veterinary college in the United States or Canada are encouraged to apply.
- Students must have completed at least one year of the Veterinary Curriculum by May of the program year
- Veterinary School must be AVMA accredited and located in North America
- Trainees must be in good academic standing
- International students (outside of N.American countries) are not eligible to receive awards (Pre-approved Boehringer IngelheimInternational students are the only exception)
- NIH Trainees must U.S. citizens, non-citizen U.S. nationals, or those lawfully admitted for permanent residence.

- UAF “2+2” students are encouraged to apply.

4. Selection
Overall Impact/Merit: Reviewers will assess applications for completeness, enthusiasm for program, mentor identification, project type and mentor qualifications and support. (1-10 points)

Scored Review Criteria: Each category is worth 1-5 points
1. Student Attributes- GPA, college history, GRE
2. Participation as it relates to career goals
3. Relationship of prior research experience to motivation to participate
 Note: prior research is not required, and lack of experience will not be penalized, but students without basic or clinical research experience should articulate a rationale and motivation for application.
4. Proposed research program and mentor identification
5. Letters of support (5 points each letter)

5. TOEFL
550 (Paper based) or 80 (internet based) for TOEFL; 6.5 for IELTS; 58 for PTE (Departments may have a higher requirement)
